He estado trabajando en un libro infantil que he escrito e ilustrado íntegramente.
El proyecto se titula Ópalo y nace con la intención de transmitir valores de autoestima, empatía y diversidad a través de una historia entrañable.

Sinopsis

Ópalo es un monstruo con un implante coclear. Un día, otros monstruos se burlan, y Ópalo se siente triste y decide adentrarse en el bosque. Allí irá conociendo a un grupo de amigos, cada uno con sus propias particularidades, que le enseñarán que ser diferente es algo maravilloso. Juntos descubrirán que sus diferencias hacen que cada un sea único y que la verdadera fuerza está en aceptarse y quererse tal como son.

I have been working on a children’s book that I have both written and illustrated.
The project is called Ópalo and was created to share values of self-esteem, empathy, and diversity through a heartwarming story.

Synopsis

Ópalo is a monster with a cochlear implants. One day, other monsters make fun of him, and Ópalo feels sad and decides to venture into the forest. There, he meets a group of friends, each with their own unique traits, who teach Ópalo that being different is something wonderful. Together, they discover that their differences make each of them unique, and that true strength lies in accepting and loving themselves just as they are.

Todas las ilustraciones de Ópalo están pensadas en blanco y negro para resaltar los elementos que hacen especiales a cada personaje, que se destacan con color. Esto permite que los lectores identifiquen fácilmente lo que hace único a cada monstruo y refuerza la idea de que sus diferencias son valiosas. El color también se utiliza de manera narrativa con Ópalo: cuando otros monstruos se burlan, el color de sus implantes cocleares desaparece, reflejando cómo se siente al ser rechazado/a. A medida que conoce a los demás personajes y conecta con ellos, el color vuelve lentamente, simbolizando la aceptación, la autoestima y la alegría de sentirse parte de un grupo que valora la diversidad. Este recurso visual ayuda a los niños a comprender emociones y valores de forma intuitiva, mientras se sumergen en la historia y conectan con los personajes.

All the illustrations in Ópalo are designed in black and white to highlight the elements that make each character special, which are emphasized with color. This allows readers to easily identify what makes each monster unique and reinforces the idea that their differences are valuable. Color is also used narratively with Ópalo: when other monsters make fun of it, the color of his cochlear implants disappears, reflecting how it feels when being rejected. As it meets the other characters and connects with them, the color slowly returns, symbolizing acceptance, self-esteem, and the joy of belonging to a group that values diversity. This visual device helps children intuitively understand emotions and values while immersing themselves in the story and connecting with the characters.
